Staying Motivated During Trying Times

It’s easy to become discouraged during hard times, when negativity seems to surround us, suffocating and destroying our hope. While one cannot always control what happens to us, we can control how we respond to it. Seek to create a positive environment for yourself and you’ll begin to become more motivated. Here are some ways to stay motivated during tough times:

  • Take care of yourself – Eating right, good sleep and regular exercise can benefit mental health and improve mood, which is found to help us feel more positive and more hopeful about things.
  • Share positivity – Negativity saps energy, but positivity creates it. And right now, you need whatever positivity you can generate, as do your family, friends, and colleagues.
  • Read and listen to positive information –  If you fill your mind with uplifting and inspiring information, it will keep you motivated.
  • Have an attitude of expectancy – You will get what you expect. Expect something great to happen for you every day and it will.
  • Be hopeful – This, too, shall pass. We will get through these difficult times, and we’ll come out the other side better and stronger than we are now. Let’s make this our goal. Let’s stay hopeful.

  • Uplift yourself – There are a million ways you can spend time lifting yourself up. Any time you engage in something positive, you produce neuropeptides that echo feelings of happiness, contentment, excitement, joy, and hope. Read inspirational stories, listen to positive podcasts, good music, etc.
  • Appreciate everything – Learn to live in a state of gratitude. Acknowledge the value within and the value without. When you are fretting and fearful, stop and think of your best memories. The more you acknowledge gratitude, the happier you will become.
